Infinite Values | TRS088
Welcome to 2020 everyone! For our first release of this new decade we are very pleased to bring you the second in our series of double, clear 10” lathe cut record releases. This release comes from Polish composer and sound installation sculptor, Jacek Doroszenko, and is entitled “Infinite Values”. It’s somewhat minimalistic yet still melodically oriented 11 tracks are deeply ingrained with all the many diverse elements that make “pure” electronic music so enjoyable. This is layered, expansive, and thoughtfully composed music of the highest order, with a depth not often heard in these droney days. Jacek uses piano, prepared piano, various instruments and sound objects to create music that is stylistically all encompassing…organic, glitchy, field recording centric…there is a lot to listen to here…put on your headphones and come enjoy the ride!
As usual this release will come in two distinct physical versions, as well as being available digitally. The deluxe, double 10” lathe cut version comes in an edition of just 48 copies. Each set of records comes in a modified, center-holed Kraftboard gatefold jacket. The front of each jacket is covered in actual, extremely dimensional vintage copper circuit board sheets, and each is then hand modified with vintage electrical component labeling rubber stamps, and then labelled with a vintage Dymo-mite Tapewriter. In the middle of the gatefold is an adhered large single vintage ledger sheet extensively hand stamped on both sides in mathematical equations and abstract numerations, using an antique set of math learning rubber stamps. The inside panels and back are covered in center hole cut, 60 year old engineering schematics, and are also extensively hand stamped. The cut out holes are then disseminated and reapplied elsewhere in the packaging! Also attached inside are two pages from a 1958 catalog of TV/Radio, Tung-Sol tube base connection diagrams. Each jacket contains two clear, 33 rpm 10” lathe cut records, with hand designed and self adhered labels. The extremely clean sounding records were as usual pressed by Michael Lawrence at Bladud Flies in Wales UK. Finally…each gatefold jacket comes snug in an outer 10” poly sleeve.
There is also a standard digipak version in an edition of 300 copies. This beautiful 6 panel digipak was designed by Jacek and Ewa Doroszenko, after the initial concept by Colin Herrick. It features a silver foil embossed cover, and factory pressed disc.
Jacek Doroszenko is an audiovisual artist living in Warsaw, Poland. His artistic activity includes mainly multimedia art, as well as music and audio phenomena. The core of his activity is treating sound phenomena as legitimate material in the field of visual art and emphasizing the value of listening as a practice. In everyday life most of the sound goes unnoticed because we do not really listen to it. Listening begins when we become sound conscious and focus on this sense. The artist uses a wide range of processes, including sound installations, field recordings, video, music score concepts, depending on the context. His practice focuses on using the contemporary sound landscape to select and redefine the notion of noise and malfunction as being an undesirable factor.
