Francesco Giannico

Les Mondes Imaginaires | TRS084

web-release-pic

TRS084 is an exceedingly lovely and evocative, field recording infused aural journey through the Italian countryside, as is portrayed in the manipulated photographs used in the packaging that were taken by the musician during an outdoor workshop that he was involved in. This time Francesco utilizes more real instrumentation, and the piano, guitars and ethereal vocals, blended with delicately refined electronic nuances create an overtly organic feel to the album in general. The melodic, melancholy and pastoral mood he sets here will have you wishing you were there yourself… wandering in the fields…over the hills…and as night falls, out under the star spattered Italian skies.

The Deluxe Limited Edition Version is an edition of just 50 uniquely hand made copies. Each lovely glass mastered CD comes in a case originally intended for DVDs and made of recycled Kraft board. Each case has an original and unique collage by Colin Herrick on the cover…each composed of torn and intricately reassembled photographs taken by the musician. Each collage incorporates elements of fine art papers as well, and is star punched, hand stamped, and spattered and outlined with gold oil paint. The inside cover is collaged as well, and the back of each case is covered with a vintage punch card, with an attached hand printed and numbered textual print out. The spine of each case is titled with a strip that was hand typed in red on a vintage typewriter. Yet another labor of love!

This release is also available in a “standard edition” of 50 copies, each of which is also unique in its own way, incorporating the same torn and reassembled photographs in a more simple fashion.

The copy that you receive may or may not be the one pictured. This release will ship the week of June 20th 2019.

In 2010, he founded AIPS – Archivio Italiano Paesaggi Sonori together with Alessio Ballerini. In 2013, always with Ballerini he founded Oak, an art music label.

His musical approach is better described as a cinematic journey which pushes the boundaries of digital media even further by incorporating smooth melodies and gentle textures. More canonical instruments such as guitar and piano are constantly present into Francesco Giannico’s music, within interrupted structures or long and dreaming sonorous carpets.

He has released on several labels and collaborated with many artists such as: Bruno Dorella, Amy Denio, Kim Cascone, Thollem McDonas, Zac Nelson, Stefan Bonitatibus , Ben Chatwin, Mary Levykina, Anna Aleksandra Waliszewska. Fabio Orsi , Alessio Ballerini.
