Immersed Sensibilities | TRS107
We at TRS are very excited to bringing you this first album from Polish composer and musician, Antonina Car, entitled Immersed Sensibilities. In the words of Car herself:
“While working on this album I decided to limit interaction with other people as much as I could. I spent 6 months in a pretty isolated state, almost every day working on music. I wanted to avoid any outside influence on my music, just internal thoughts and true space for limitless experiments. I wanted to create a small sonic universe containing structures and its own impression of time. What inspired me most was my idea of nature being the ultimate source of metaphors for the human condition. It perfectly shows its strength and vulnerability. It’s flawless in its beauty and ferocity. I spent a lot of time reflecting on the idea that every event occurring in nature it’s a poetic form on its own and I wanted to try transcribing my feelings to stories and events I imagined could take place. I would say that throughout the album songs introduce the listener to the peculiar sonic “biosphere” where organisms are fully synthetic, made up by the imagination. Then the voice appears, being the reference for the imagination as the words bring more context. Besides the acoustic instruments and recorded voice, sounds are highly processed, and recordings in the background that could appear as field recordings (wind, thunders, rustles) are in fact designed completely digitally. Then the last track is a form of a manifest. It’s the only track where I don’t play the instruments. I’m focusing on the narrative and the field recording appears this time in the track – subtle steps on forest leaves. The track correlates with my journey throughout the album and thoughts on the present. I imagine it framing the disordered and uncertain beginning with an expressive yet appeased ending.”
TRS107 will be released in 3 distinct physical editions, adding multi-sensorial layers of enigma and science, to the mysterious and unexplained music.
-> The Deluxe lathe cut record version is an edition of only 40 copies. The recycled, heavyweight kraft board jackets are covered with a torn, archival print of an original TRS collage made from sandpaper, burnt matches and pastel. Each print is rubber stamped, and modified with cut out, vintage electronic tubes. On the back is corner mounted a large printed sheet with the album credits and lyrics. Behind this, and only on the first 20 copies, is also attached a pocket made from a page of an old Adventures In Nature and Science book containing a spoken, 7” record discussing a particular subject. The 12” lathe cut records are made by Bladud Flies in Wales, UK.
