Available as a pre-order now!

After over ten years of obsessively making the thousands of handmade packages that the beautiful music we have released come in, we felt that our artistic output deserved to be brought together in book form. This is a way to showcase all of our designs and products for those of you that may or may not have the originals, and as a personal redemption of sorts for ourselves! Because we wanted complete control over the look and feel of the book, we decided early on that we would self produce it, and after the two year plus process that it has taken, “Time Released Sound: A Decade Of Handmade Music Packaging” has finally arrived! We hope that you appreciate it as much as we do!

We started by having all of our packaging professionally photographed at the studio of Mark Serr, who took the beautiful shots in the book, while each release was styled by Colin Herrick. The book itself was designed by our dear friend John Hubbard, an American living in Finland that has designed hundreds of art books and catalogues. The proof reading was done by the exceedingly meticulous Jesse Burson….it is a 55,000 word picture book after all!
The extensive interview section was conducted by the renowned host of the Arts In Review show on KALX radio, Gregory Scharpen. The poetic foreword to the book was written by Andee Connors, co-owner of the late great Aquarius Records in San Francisco, and the book also features two pages of his unique reviews of TRS releases. Included in the book are hundreds of process shots, pages of the design variations making up particular editions, and all of the standard CD and vinyl version artworks as well.

We also reached out to artists that TRS has released in the past, requesting a track suited to the theme of time, to reflect the aural aesthetic of our label.

Music in video by Catherine Watine, from TRS082.
