We are pleased to be releasing the new album “Allusionen”, from German modern classical artist, Himmelsrandt. The nine tracks on this moody, wintry and melancholic beauty feature the artist Peter Honsalek either on piano and viola, and on four tracks, he additionally plays the mysterious early electronic synthesizer called the Volkstrautonium. This is a somewhat dark and introspective journey through the shortest, coldest days of the year, please pull up a chair by the fire, and put your headphones on!
As Peter says, “The album in general deals with the topic of “allusion”. The piano songs reflect the period in which the viola songs were invented (between the years 2019/2020). The viola songs themselves are allusions to certain styles and epochs. To notice this and to classify correctly is the job of the listener.
There are also allusions (music for Piano and the rare Volkstrautonium), which are not intended to refer to specific styles, epochs or compositions, but only to allude to specific cold and snowy days between the years 2019/2020. The aim of the album was to capture the creation of contemporary music in its entirety and make it audible. This includes not only the result, but also the external (musical and non-musical) influences that shaped it.”
This pre-order release will be available in two distinct vinyl versions.
The Deluxe limited edition version in an edition of only 50 copies comes housed in a hand made, heavy weight fold open jacket formed from sheets of high quality black museum board. On the front of each have aerosol stenciled and spattered a winter landscape of Birch trees in the snow. Collaged onto each of these forests is a selection of vintage cut outs of antique violins and violas from a century old instrument sales catalog. Extra snow banks have been added with the use of Japanese rice papers. The album title and artist name have been hand typed on a rare Olympia cursive typewriter, and are hand adhered. Inside the front jacket panel is a page of sheet music hand inscribed and signed personally by Peter Honsalek. On the facing inside panel features pages from a vintage horological book on pocket watch design and repair. The “Dark Thought” smoked vinyl record in its black poly lined sleeve is held in place with an additional attached jacket flap. On the reverse of each jacket is a unique vintage, moody darkroom printed photograph from the 1980’s attached with archival corner mounts. On the back of each of these mysterious and anonymous images are printed the album track titles and credits. The entire package then comes in a heavyweight outer poly sleeve.
There is also a “standard” version of this album in a reverse board printed jacket, in an edition of 150 copies, also with “Dark Thought” smoked vinyl.

Peter Honsalek, born 1986 in Siegburg (Germany), founded his music project Himmelsrandt during his artistic studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. Under this name he created numerous compositions, some of which have not yet been published. In addition to 2 EPs and 3 albums, Honsalek is now releasing his fourth album which is called “Allusionen”.
